There’s something about fall that -honest to God- settles my soul! Does that sound crazy, maybe it is? But the smells, the temperature is milder, fall food harvests, the colors, the change in light, and knowing the holiday season and family time is upon us. Luckily I have some great friends/family… AKA “framily” who share these feelings with me. And ever since our first babies were born 4 years ago we have gathered for family photos shot by me, followed by a fall harvest dinner. This year my good friend Casey wanted to host since her and her husband just bought and remodeled a beautiful home- the final home they could raise their family in as they’ve always dreamed! Casey has always strived to grow her own food, know where her food comes from, and puts in a lot of work to make this happen. So much work that it is growing into a business called “Hearth and Homestead”. You have to check her out on Instagram!
Since Casey brought up the idea of hosting the Framily Fall Harvest Dinner- yup it’s an official title now, I thought what a great idea for the cover of Northstate Parent magazine! Make sure to look for it next month. So we went all out on the details and food. Casey labored for hours sanding down the beautiful tables from her great great grandparent’s ranch, I scoured antique stores for brass details and put together a eucalyptus runner, Casey carefully planned the food menu, and our good friend Elyse who owns Woody’s Brewery brought the beer to pair with dinner and helped with all the details that gorgeous Sunday. It all turned out picture perfect.
The best of all, as corny as it sounds, is just watching our kids play and being together as framily knowing we will always have this tradition!
